I am saddened to know that Bruce has passed away, and I want to extend my sincere condolences to Bernie and Alison. My experiences with Bruce were invariably enjoyable, as he was a remarkable person and a fine companion. His insightful perspectives on daily events, his gentle humour and his sharp sarcasm marked a strong mind and a sociable demeanour. A highlight of many of the meals we shared at the “officers mess” of Camp Shilo, was Bruce’s trenchant observations about the selection of the food, the adequacy of the cooking, and the abruptness of the presentation. He showed us many things in our surroundings that we would have missed without him, and now we will miss him.
