Amy was one of the greatest gardeners this country has ever known. She and Clair created something unique and inspirational to several generations of new gardeners. She was so generous with her time and wisdom and was one of the first people who encouraged me to go on with both gardening and writing. Her knowledge of plants was phenomenal and she could create combinations of plants not seen before. I think about her a lot and have felt guided by the spirit and aesthetic she developed. We will all miss her intensely.
