I was very sorry to read of Amy's death. Amy was one of Branksome's oldest alumnae who most certainly Kept Well The Road all these many years. On behalf of the Alumnae Association, please accept our sincere condolences.

Condolence: Dear Stewart family,
I join Adrienne in all the thoughts she expressed. Your parents were so important to our lives, part of an extraordinairy group of fascinating cultural leaders...greet role models.
Also your Mum was very kind to me when I was starting to build a young adult life in Toronto and led me to finding my first job!.
Much Love, Lorna

Condolence: To All the Stewarts,
Amy and Claire were wonderful and much admired friends of my parents Norah and George Harris. Many years of memories of parties, gardening, trips to Stratford. My mother was lucky to have such a wonderful solid, loving friend in Amy.

Makes me sad and wistful to think that Amy must be almost the last of that generation of women ( men and women) who went through the war and continued on to make contributions and live graceful and responsible lives.

Condolence: Amy was one of the greatest gardeners this country has ever known. She and Clair created something unique and inspirational to several generations of new gardeners. She was so generous with her time and wisdom and was one of the first people who encouraged me to go on with both gardening and writing.
Her knowledge of plants was phenomenal and she could create combinations of plants not seen before. I think about her a lot and have felt guided by the spirit and aesthetic she developed.
We will all miss her intensely.

Condolence: To the Stewart family:
So sorry for your loss. I remember your moms garden at Sturgeon Point, I was so fortunate to have grown up around that garden, and then to experience the one at the farm. I think of her often when I am in my gardens. If a person lives on in the creations they leave behind, she lives on in my mind. And that is a lovely picture, that is the Mrs. Stewart I remember from Sturgeon Point.

Condolence: I remember Amy and Clair very well from my early days at Sturgeon Point. They were very welcoming and gracious when I was " hanging out" with Mike and Tim. The Thanksgiving parties were truly memorable and I was thrilled to be included. Boat rides with Mr and Mrs. Stewart were always an adventure as were conversations with both of them.
Amy always seemed to be an oasis of calm which amazed and impressed me. I was fortunate to be able to visit her garden-I wish I had been in a position to talk about plants with her-I'm sure I would have learned a great deal. Having her in your lives for so long was a gift-many wonderful memories I'm sure. You are all in my thoughts.

Condolence: Dear All in the Stewart Family

I came into the Stewart family orbit many years ago, and as a boarding school friend of Tim and Mike, was welcomed so naturally and warmly by your mom and dad that it left a lifelong impression on me.
I think of the times at Caledon, roaming in the woods, and of the forced labour :) of planting hundreds of daffodils on the hillsides below the family home, not to mention the trees we planted by hand under your mom's direction.
Your mom (I always addressed her as Mrs. Stewart) was always interested in anything I had to say, and of course was so gracious I will always remember her that way. And with the wisdom of hindsight, I realize how quietly effective she was in managing all of your, her considerable brood!
Our sincere condolences to you all.

Condolence:
AMy's garden was such a gift to so many. I was privileged to visit a number of times many years ago & enjoyed both the hospitality of Amy & Claire & the very special gardens that Amy had created. We at the then Civic Garden Centre, now Toronto Botanical Garden were so fortunate to have Amy & her talents in our lives.
My sincere sympathy to the family on Amy's passing. Sue Macaulay
