Who Was Helga Degen

Who Was Helga Degen

Helga,

Who was Helga Degen?  Helga was a proud, feisty pint sized, German woman who flew into our hearts and will forever be a part of us

When looking back over the years since I first met this bigger than life lady I can only smile.  She had a no-nonsense approach to everything in life.  She would say, “Erline, there is work to be done so don’t coddle these people.  We all have a job to do.  Everyone has a business and THEY need to take care of THEIR business.  So, you go kick some behind and let’s get the show on the road.  You send them to me in the Lobby and I will teach them what to do.  Now, you KNOW we can only bring them to the trough, we can’t make them drink.  BUT if you get them in here they WILL learn how to “drink” their Compumatrix business.   I will use my BROOM on those who don’t listen (said with a hardy laugh).  It is so important for our members to understand this business.”

She loved all our members, she cared about them succeeding and had compassion for those who just couldn’t do it on their own.  She helped many with their businesses above and beyond the call of duty.

She appreciated every kindness shown to her by members, staff and Admin.  Helga always said Thank you from the bottom of her heart.

I will miss our long talks where she shared many stories of her past which she held close to herself.  It was hard for her to open-up when sharing, as some of her stories were sad memories.  Her attitude to that part in her life was that is made her the independent woman she turned out to be.

Helga’s body maybe gone but her spirit will always be a part of Compumatrix and a part of each of us.   I feel honored to have known her and honored to be her friend.

I LOVE YOU, HELGA!  Give Chad a hug from me and tell him I love him.

Until we meet again, HUGS
