I feel privileged to have known Freddy for the last few years. He was one of those rare characters who exuded such incredible passion that it became contagious. No matter the weather he wanted to hit and hit and hit. It could be 7 degrees with a 40km/hr wind and he would leave messages telling you how beautiful a day for T-E-N-N-I-S it was. He was a great ambassador for the game. He cared so much about kids and would hand out balls and racquets whenever possible. He’d even throw balls over the fence to toddlers who were playing in the park. I appreciated his coaching and believe me he would not let up even after 2 hours of hitting. “Hit deep”, “You'll get crushed if you ever do that in match”- He was relentless. And you know what? It worked. He would hit each day until he couldn’t hit another ball. How can that not help but motivate you to try your best? I thank him for all the priceless memories of listening to his hilarious messages with my kids. First thing they often asked when getting home from school is if they could listen to today’s messages. “They call him the …” “Emergency! Emergency!” Thanks for everything Fred.
