I am filled with so many memories of my good friend and neighbor. She was such an important part of our family and we loved her so much. She would always be available for a cup of tea and a story. On an occasional hot day she would call around to see if we could spare a cold beer and ginger ale for a shandy (although I'm not sure she ever finished one). A few years ago she even ventured into the beer store herself to buy my husband a 6 pack for his birthday. Oh, she was so proud of herself! I would sometimes worry about her determination to care for and maintain her house and lawn but that woman could brandish a reciprocating saw, shovel her driveway cut her grass and knew the "secret" to a green lawn. She proved herself very good with a hammer the day she helped me get out of locked basement. When her grandchildren were young I just loved seeing her out for walks with the pram (not a stroller) and usually with a dog in tow. Her relationship with children was so very special. Over the years of daycare kids in and out of my house she would gladly come cuddle a little one, color with another and share fries. There were often special treats brought over for little ones and every Christmas the Cadbury chocolate biscuits would be tradition for my own children. So I will put on my earrings and lipstick, as she said a lady must, and honor this woman. Rest in Peace my friend. xo (Oh how I miss those genuine hugs)
