Obituary for Sandra Gale Godovitz (Darnbrough)

GODOVITZ, Sandra Gale (nee DARNBROUGH) July 22, 1943 – June 6, 2020
Passed away peacefully in her 76th year at Princess Margaret Hospital, with loving family by her side in her final days. Beloved wife of Teddy Godovitz Jr. for 56 joyous and adventurous years. Adored mother of Stephen (Anita), Kimberley (Sam), and Tracy (Scott). Devoted Nana and proud hockey/lacrosse/swim/dance fan of Madison, Colton, Logan, Sophie and Ryan. Cherished sister of Arthur, Daniel and Michael. A compassionate and loving friend to all, Sandy had a remarkable ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. Sandy will be profoundly missed and always remembered by the relatives and friends she touched. Immense gratitude to the caregivers at Princess Margaret Hospital for providing compassionate care and support, notably during this time when we the family often couldn’t.
Cremation and a Private Immediate Family Service will take place; a ‘Celebration of Life’ to honour Sandy’s memory will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Princess Margaret Hospital.
There is great comfort in knowing Mum is riding her bike and reading a book once again!
A tree will be planted in memory of Sandra in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. The annual dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at

Dear Mr. Godovitz, Steve, Kim, Tracy, and Family,
It is with great sadness we stumble across this very saddening news of your Beloved Wife and Mother. We remember her from being neighbours of your first house on Bruce Beer Dr. ages ago. Despite being such a small child and all those years separating the present and our memories of dear Mrs. Godovitz, we still remember her kind and warm ways like yesterday --- testament to her generosity of spirit. She has always been in our hearts and prayers, and will continue to be so.
Dear Friends, you miss her beautiful presence incredibly and painfully, but rest assured, she is in a better, peaceful place. Sincere, heartfelt condolences to you all. Wish we could have seen her...warm wishes to you all.

Mustafa, Tasneem, Yusuf Abdulhusein and Family

Condolences to the family of the vibrant, loving and wonderful Sandy. We worked together for many years at the Region of Peel. She was a confidante, a trusted advisor and always at the ready to provide a helpful, honest and often humorous perspective on all things life, love and work. Sandy taught me so much. But what I remember most about her is the way she spoke about her family -- always with love and pride. Sandy was one-of-kind and will be missed. I hope the good memories will soon replace the grief and pain that you are feeling.
Blessings and love, Janine Elias Joukema

Dear Friend, losing you so soon, just breaks our hearts. We have our long and happy memories of your friendship, kindness and strength to look back on as we go on without you. Group gatherings will never be the same without your sunny smile good humor and companionship. We will always remember you demanding that I hold the photo until you sucked in your tummy and prepared your wonderful smile. We hope your family can maintain your strength to carry on in your absence. In younger and happier times.

Farewell Dear Friend,
Sheila & Bob
