Obituary for Lois Joan White (Ling)

Lois Joan White (Ling)
White, Lois Joan (nee Ling)
Peacefully at Headwaters Health Care Centre on Friday, July 28, 2017 at the age of 82. Beloved wife of Terrence (Terry) Ogilvie White (1994). Dear mother of Corey Reaves (Ron) and Scott White (Valerie). Cherished grandmother of Bryan, Sharon and Andrew. Predeceased by her older sister Beryl Wainman (2007). Lois excelled as a student and graduated High School several years younger than her peers. Lois began dating a popular local athlete in 1948 and married Terry on July 29, 1957 in Capreol, Ontario. Lois began teaching public school in 1954 and spent most of her teaching career as an esteemed and admired staff member at C.R. Judd Public School in Capreol, Ontario. She was eternally grateful for the opportunity to work in and raise her family in, the small town of Capreol, where she grew up. She was delighted to teach several generations of local families. She was blessed with a lifelong passion for music and started playing the piano by ear as a 4 year old. She continued to enjoy playing at dances, recitals and school theatre productions throughout her career. Our Mom even brought out her arsenal of Christmas Carols at her retirement building and would play for family gatherings. It brought her immense comfort and joy throughout her life. As an educator, she loved words and truly valued books. She was a voracious reader and at one point was reading simultaneously two hard cover novels, a biography on her Kobo and a Murder mystery on her Kindle. She ultimately wanted to inspire a curiosity of learning with her students and this obsession resonated within her for her entire life. She was an extraordinary hostess and by today's standards, an original Foodie. Cooking was always a pleasure for her and she thrived best with a house full of people ... her parties were almost legendary. Our Mom relocated to Hillsburgh, Ontario a decade ago and welcomed this new chapter in her life. She enjoyed many new friendships and thanks to reluctantly mastering technology, was able to keep in touch easily with friends, colleagues and former students. She was known for her generosity and her kind and helpful spirit will be sorely missed by everyone who loved her. Mom you have earned your wings ... Fly with the Eagles
