Obituary for Derek Reginald Morley

Derek Reginald Morley
Derek Reginald Morley
1929-2017
After a very brief illness, Derek died peacefully Saturday, January 28, 2017 with his wife of nearly 60 years, Barbara, by his side. Derek battled serious health issues for many years, always bouncing back to his normal self, despite all odds. Derek was well known in the community. He served on Orangeville Town Council from 1969 to 1974, and was always active politically. He joined the RAF at 17 and was stationed in Berlin for the Air Lift in 1948-1949. He immigrated to Canada in 1955, working for DeHavilland and then McDonnell Douglas.
He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, where he had many friends.
Derek is survived by Barbara, his children Debbie (Chuck), Carol (Marc), Michael (Marilyn) and Wendy (Ashif), nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.
Those who wish to pay their respects to Derek may do so at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville on Friday, February 2, 2017. Visiting will be from 1:30 p.m. and a Commemoration at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Hospice Dufferin.
A tree will be planted in memory of Derek in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. A dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
