Obituary for Dennis Orme

Orme, Dennis
May 15, 1932 – July 20, 2019
Peacefully at home on Saturday, July 20, 2019 with family by his side. Beloved Husband and best friend of Beryl Orme for 64 years. Amazing Father of Stephen (Karen) and Christopher (Kathy). Unbelievable Grandad of Dennis (Ashley), Kaitie, Evan (Rubi), Kalen (Becky), and Jono (Ashley). Absolutely fantastic Great-Grandad of Audrey Grace. We will always remember his overwhelming generosity, his sense of humour, his endless support, and his love for his family. Dennis touched many lives and will be greatly missed by his relatives in England and his countless friends. We would like to express our deep gratitude and appreciation to all the doctors and health care workers who always went above and beyond what was expected. Your loving care as we journeyed together was truly remarkable.
Celebration of Life: The immediate family will be holding a private gathering to celebrate a life well lived and well loved.
“Those we love remain with us, for love itself lives on.
Cherished memories never fade because a loved one’s gone.
Those we love can never be more than a thought apart.
For as long as there are memories, they’ll live on in our heart.”
A tree will be planted in memory of Dennis in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. The annual dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at

I am so sorry to hear of Dennis' passing. I worked with Dennis at Mississauga Transit. I was one of the dispatchers for "Easy Rider" and Dennis was one of my favourite drivers who had to check in with me so that we'd be able to tell passengers the arrival times at bus stops. Somehow he got the nickname "Grover" and he brought me a Grover (Sesame St character) finger puppet. Many years later I ran into him in Orangeville and we had a great chat. He was so funny and sweet and it was easy to get him to laugh. Then I found out that he was the much loved father-in-law of my daughter & son's music teacher Mrs Orme. Small world eh? My sympathies to all his family. He was a gem of a man and will be missed.

So very sad to learn about Dennis. You were such good neighbours and a joy to know. Dennis was quite the guy with his wicked sense of humour. Treasure the many wonderful memories you all have, they will give you happy hours and much peace. Love and good wishes. Terry

Mrs. Orme, Chris, Kathy and Family, we had the pleasure of getting to know Mr. O. on your visits to Willow Beach. A man with a sharp and gentle sense of humour, quick wit and clear love of family. We will treasure our last visit at Chris and Kathy’s home....stories clearly reflecting his love for his wonderful Beryl and his sense of fun. Our deepest condolences to the Orme family. Mr. Orme, you always made me feel welcome in your home and managed to make me smile no matter what was going on. And I knew Chris and I could never get one over on you. You knew us too well. My thoughts are with all your family as I do not possess the skills to properly write the words to express what is fitting. Thank you for being a part of my life, regardless of how long ago it was.

Dear Beryl and Family
Our deepest condolences to all. I have many fond memories of years ago when your dear Dennis first came to Canada and lived with us on our farm on the third line of Amaranth. Later on I always enjoyed seeing him accompany you Beryl at the First Brands functions. May all your precious memories comfort you in the days ahead. Thinking of you.
Love Wayne and Linda Cornelius (Horsman)
