Obituary for Deborah Joan CAUZ (Gordon)

CAUZ, Deborah Joan (Nee Gordon)
Deborah Cauz died quietly in her sleep at The Pond, her Caledon home on Heart Lake Road. Her lengthy battle with lung cancer came to an end on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. She was 60.
Deb is survived by her loving husband and companion for 23 years, Louis Cauz, and her devoted and caring family; father Merritt Gordon (Peterborough); sister Shelley Maslen (Greg) of Orangeville and brother Robert (Linda) of Calgary; step-sisters Tere (Reynald) and Krista Ouellette (Peterborough); nieces and nephews Colleen, Keri, Merritt, Alaina, Meritt, Mason and Lou’s six children, Carrie, Michele (Kevin), David, Jason (Gina), Joshua (Krista) and Matthew.
Deborah was a highly motivated business entrepreneur in the world of corporate communications, social media, marketing, public relations and promotions. She was president of Deborah Cauz & Associates. Her major clients were Neighbourhood Toy Stores of Canada (NETS), acting as its Administrator of Public Relations and Marketing; Sherway, Oakville, Burlington and Fairview farmers’ markets, dealing with vendors and media; Marketing Director of Thornbrook Home Care; Manager of Support Group Programs for Willow Breast Cancer. She travelled across Canada arranging seminars for caregivers and women with cancer for almost 20 years.
Deborah graduated from Carleton University, Ottawa. She was associate editor of Canadian Travel News for Southam, writing articles on Asia, Africa and the Mediterranean. She was also marketing consultant for Etobicoke Life newspaper.
Her passions, besides her flower gardens, swimming pool and the cottage in Haliburton, Nobigdeal Manor, included visits to racetracks in Europe, Barbados and Argentina. Deborah had a modest internet horse betting account at Woodbine and often visited its slot machines. Golfing every Wednesday night with her best friend Tierney was a ritual until her health declined this past summer. In October she “willed” herself into one more vacation, travelling to a city she had always dreamt of but had never visited, Venice, and an Adriatic cruise to Croatia, Turkey, Greece and Santorini, an island she had visited and written about thirty years earlier.
Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers please consider a charitable donation to Headwaters Health Care Foundation, www.hhcfoundation.com. Interment at Nestleton United Church Cemetery (North) at a later date.

A Celebration of Debbie’s life will be held at The Pond, 15754 Heart Lake Road on Saturday, December 20, 2014 from 2-5 p.m. Debbie’s family wish to thank the compassionate care of Dr. Cathy Candusso, Care Partners Ritty and Terry and Bayshore Health nurses Danielle, Harjit, Pawandeep and Beverly.

A tree will be planted in memory of Debbie in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. A dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 13th, 2015 at 2:30 p.m.
