In earlier years we often celebrated our birthdays together as his is 2 days after mine. When I was bullied in grade school because I wore German leather shorts to school Bernie stood up for me as he did again later when he got me a summer job alongside him at the Carberry farm when everyone said I was too young that year. When I left home at 16 with no where to go it was Bernie who let me couch surf until I could save enough $ to rent a room. He always treated me like a big brother. Love you Bernie.
