Obituary for Maureen Jane Dean (Harrington)

Maureen Jane Dean

It is with great sadness that we announce that Maureen Jane Dean, beloved wife of the late Gordon and mother of the late Linda (John), passed away at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville on Monday, October 17, 2016.

Born on August 30, 1930 in Toronto, Maureen was the eldest of Frank and Alice Harrington’s six children. Maureen’s creativity and can do attitude helped her build a varied professional career. She worked in offices in Toronto, Calgary and Edmonton, as well as a merchant at Beckers and the family chip truck in Marmora.
She was an excellent cook and host. The Crowe River home that she shared with Gord was a family meeting place for many years and it was not unusual to see twenty or more gathered around her table.
She and her late husband were great fans of sports and politics. And certainly the Blue Jays will sing her praises in heaven’s diamond.

She is survived by her children Mary (Bill), Cindy (Chris), grandchildren Evan (Shamim), Deanna (Shane), Tara (Doug), Michele (Jerry), Jim (Bonnie), brothers Kevin and Tommy and many other cherished loved ones.

There will be a visitation for friends and family on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. in the party room at 200 Broadway Avenue. A small closed service for family will follow at 3:30 p.m.

A tree will be planted in memory of Maureen in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. A dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
