Grist, David Richard
Passed away at Headwaters Health Care Centre, Orangeville on Friday, February 2, 2018 in his 80th year. Beloved husband of 40 years to Libby Grist (nee Slemin). Dear father of Heather Somerville and her husband John, Sue Eckel and her husband Steve, Mary Cross and David and his wife Shannon. Cherished grandfather of Eric, Michael, Connor, Allyson, Wendy, Walker, Ariel, Nathanal, Shane, Kaitlyn, Samantha and great-grandfather of Finn. Remembered by his brothers Tony (Val), Barry (Tanya), Ron (Dianne) and Alan and his sister Maureen. Predeceased by his brother Brian. David will also be greatly missed by other relatives and many friends. Dave was a retired teacher (TDSB), Valued coach in lacrosse and soccer and a long-time farmer in Orton.
Memorial Visitation will be held at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Headwaters Health Care Foundation.
A tree will be planted in memory of David in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. A dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 2:30 p.m.
