Obituary for David Andrew Lewis

David Andrew Lewis
David Andrew Lewis
David, our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather died suddenly on Friday, October 21, 2016 in Orangeville.
He is survived by his wife Penny, children David (Susan), Jennifer (Rob), and Chris (Erin) and grandchildren Molly, Savannah, Jasper, James, Rupert, Wilkie, Anderson, and Sabine. He will be missed by siblings Dick (Lynn), Linda, and Geoffrey (Nancy).
David’s health had been deteriorating for a while, so while the suddenness of his passing was a shock for those who knew him, it was a blessing for David.
David was curious, kind, gentle, generous, a raconteur extraordinaire, and incredibly obtuse when playing charades. He filled a room with life and laughter. His favourite place in the world was our cottage on Georgian Bay, and he spent 3 glorious months there this summer.
He had a long career in the banking industry, and was greatly admired by those who worked with him. He devoted much energy to those less fortunate through his work with the Salvation Army and the United Way.
David (Dad D to his grandchildren), coined the term “yucky” ice cream to describe only the most delicious flavours one could find.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be considered to the United Way, or the Georgian Bay Land Trust.

A Celebration of David’s Life will take place on Friday October 28, 2016 at 2 pm at Grace Church On-the-Hill in Toronto. Stories and memories of David would be welcomed by the family and can be shared at DavidAndrewLewis2016@gmail.com.
