February 14, 1927 ~ September 12, 2016
An extraordinary mom, grandma, great-grandma, aunt and friend passed suddenly but peacefully at home on the farm following a cardiac episode on Monday, September 12, 2016 at the age of 89. Marion was born to parents James and Ada Thompson. To all who knew her, Marion was truly a special person who never asked for, but always gave. She will be remembered for her kindness, generous heart and love of family. Her life is a wonderful legacy of love for those she leaves behind: her husband Bruce with whom she has celebrated 69 years of marriage; her children: Diane (Ron) Little, Gordon Smith, Brian (Mary) Smith; five precious grandchildren: Shawn (Gillian) Little, Krista (Peter) Sweeney, Jennifer Little, Michael (Ashley) Smith, Leanne (Chris) Smith and ten beautiful great-grandchildren: Paige, Ryan, James, Jenna, Claire, Cole, Logan, Camron, Lincoln and Xander. She was the last surviving sibling in her family having been predeceased by seven sisters and three brothers: Olive, George, Edna, Lillian, Mabel, Gladys, Evelyn, Doris, Wilfred and Roy.
Marion will also be greatly missed by other relatives and many friends.
A Celebration of Marion's life will be held at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First Street, Orangeville on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 2:30 pm. with visitation 1 hour prior to service time.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

A tree will be planted in memory of Marion in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. A dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
