Elizabeth Gertrude Vanderzwaag (nee Amoraal) born Feb 4, 1930 passed away June 30, 2016. Beppe was one of 9 children born in Rotterdam, Holland. She graduated from Eudokia nursing school before emigrating to Canada in 1953. Shortly thereafter she met and married Peter Vanderzwaag. They began their life together in Toronto before settling in Grand Valley, where they raised four children Peter (Donna), Rob (Rosanne Collis), Karon (Ed Gazendam), Janet (Brant Ryzebol). They were also blessed with 13 grandchildren Sarah, Nikolas, Peter James, Jenni, Meghan, Eric, Josh, Tineke, Lia, Reuben, Tori, Kiana and Lucas and 13 great-grand children. Betty worked as a Registered Nurse for 25 years at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus. Upon retirement they moved to Dunnville and later Holland Christian Homes in Brampton. Predeceased by her husband Peter (2003) brothers Jan, Cor, Harry and Johan, and sisters Johanna and Gelina. She is survived by sisters Nelly and Gerda. Funeral Service to be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Heritage Fellowship Hall located at Holland Christian Homes, 7900 McLaughlin Rd. South, Brampton, Ontario.
Private family interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Dunnville Ontario.
A tree will be planted in memory of Elizabeth in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. A dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
