Peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Headwaters Health Care Centre on Sunday, July 24, 2016 in his 96th year. Roy was born August 24, 1920 in Modugno, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1924. Beloved husband for 70 years of Mary (nee Volpe). Dear father of Marie Longo McWhirter and son-in-law Buddy McWhirter. Loving grandfather of Jesse (Jennifer) and Christian (Corrin) McWhirter. Cherished great-grandfather of William, Abigail and Dylan McWhirter. Predeceased by his parents Cosmo and Nicolette and his brothers Frank and Joe. He was a very proud Canadian and veteran of World War II. His interests included jazz, literature, film, photography and playing the guitar but his greatest passion was numismatics which was also his profession. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
A very special thank you to Dr. David Stenning for his exceptional care and kindness. A most sincere thank you also to nurses Katie and Janet and the staff at Headwaters Health Care Centre for their compassionate and excellent care.

Visitation will be held at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First Street, Orangeville on Saturday, July 30, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated by the family.

A tree will be planted in memory of Rocco in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. A dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
