Obituary for Mary Longo

Mary Longo
Longo, Mary (nee Volpe)
Peacefully, at home, on April 3, 2018 in her 93rd year. Mary was born on April 29, 1925, in Toronto, Ontario. Beloved wife for 70 years of Roy Longo, who passed away in 2016. Dear mother of Marie Longo McWhirter and son-in-law Buddy McWhirter. Loving grandmother of Jesse (Jennifer) and Christian (Corrin) McWhirter. Cherished great-grandmother of William, Abigail and Dylan McWhirter. Dear sister of Norfi (Sandra), John (Danielle), Joseph (Maureen), Anne (Bob) and Margaret (Bill). Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Giovanna Volpe, and her sisters Celia (Frank) and Grace (Bert), and brother Fr. Rocco Volpe.
Mary's world was her family. The oldest of nine Volpe children, she took her position as big sister to heart and, later in life, cherished the role of mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved Frank Sinatra, Rogers and Astaire movies, hot dogs and iced cream. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
A very special thank you to Dr. David Stenning for his kindness and care over the years.

Memorial Service will be held at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First Street, Orangeville, Ontario on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation starting at from 1:00 p.m.
