Lyla Margaret Brocklebank (Lambertus)
Lyla Brocklebank
Lyla Margaret Brocklebank (nee Lambertus) – 1920 - 2017 passed away peacefully and with dignity surrounded by the love and support of her family on Thursday, February 9, 2017 in her 97th year at Hospice Simcoe. Cherished wife and lifelong dancing partner of the late Norman Scoffield Brocklebank of Orangeville, ON for 65 years. Loving and loved mother of Gayle Kirk and adored mother-in-law of Peter Kirk of Wasaga Beach, ON. Devoted grandmother of Katie Kirk of Kelowna, BC and Megan Kirk Chang of Barrie, ON. Recent grandmother-in-law to Brandon Chang, whom Lyla enjoyed her last dance with at the July Kirk-Chang wedding. Lyla will be remembered by her family for her stellar Euchre game, beautiful quilts, famous baking, and always being the biggest fan in the stands for her granddaughters’ various sporting and ceremonial events. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Doug Collins and Dr. D. John Beecroft for the kind and compassionate care for Lyla into her late 90s. A special thanks to Dino Dell’Orletta from The Hearing Clinic for assisting with her hearing and Dr. Don Nixon for prolonging her sight. Sincere gratitude to the Waterford Retirement Residence staff for the outstanding care and support to help Lyla to maintain her vibrancy and independence for the last seven years. More recently, the kind care offered through CCAC, especially Kathy Knapp, Bayshore nursing staff, and PSWs from Care Partners. A heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe for assisting with a lovely end to a lovely long life for our queen angel.
A Private Spring Interment and Graveside Service will be held for immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Simcoe in Lyla’s memory would be greatly appreciated.
