The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of George Macintyre can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

My Time with Mr. & Mrs.

I had the pleasure of meeting George and Cathy in the fall of 2011 and visited them on a regular basis for the following two years.  Although they faced some challenges with George's ongoing health concerns I was very impressed with their sense of humor and how together they coped with day to day life.

George would recount humorous stories from his past as a young lad, their move Canada, his life work in the printing industry and their homes and travel.  He shared his love of his children and their children and was always excited to tell me they were coming by to spend time with him.  He lit up at the very thought.

George amazed me how well he managed his way around the computer and kept current on world events, online shopping, email and Facebook.  Ah online shopping,  George beamed one day and couldn't wait to tell me he had purchased a special coin that he planned to present to Cathy on her birthday later in the year.  George was a collector of many things.

George had a "sweet" tooth and a healthy supply of chocolate and candies on hand.  Easter eggs were especially good!

Cathy and George were always kind, considerate, thoughtful and we shared much laughter during my visits.

It is interesting how people weave into your life and leave such a profound print on one's heart.  George and Cathy are such people to me and I feel enriched to have spent time with them.
