Obituary for Terry William Myers

Terry William Myers - June 28, 1962 – May 12, 2022
We are sad beyond what words can express to announce the passing of our husband/brother/father/uncle/friend, Terry at the age of 58. Terry passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2022, after heart failure with the love of his life, his Genny, by his side.
Terry had been in a serious car accident almost 9 years ago. Many of the battles he experienced over the years almost took him from us. But he was a fighter, and we count our blessings that we got an extra 9 years with him on this earth to make many memories and love him for his passion and flair for life! He fought to the end for his family.
Terry will be lovingly remembered by his wife Genny of 20 years, his beautiful daughters Ryley (Bergie) and Katie (Myers) and his sister Tammy Murray (Bill). Terry had a wonderful extended family and he will be missed by his in-laws, Linda and Richard Colpitts, Pius Edwards (Karen) and brothers-in-law Jamie Edwards (Jenna), Peter Edwards (Sue) and his nieces and nephews, Taylor (Kyle), Matia, Mila, Jamie-Lee and Dylan and great uncle to Ava and Blake. Predeceased by his parents Joan and Richard Myers.
But Terry really lived two different lives – one before he was injured in the car accident and then after. But through both lives, Terry and Genny were inseparable and the love they shared was seen by all. It was wonderful that they found each other and were able to complete the two journeys together. We just wish Terry was like his beloved cat Star and had 9 lives. We miss him dearly.
Terry and Genny both loved the same things, and their lives were so intertwined whether it was curling up on the couch to watch action movies (Terry’s favorite!), or travelling to their favorite destination spot Negril, Jamaica, entertaining friends at their house or playing with their many pets or unfortunately visiting the many doctors he needed to see. They did it all together and were able to complete the journey together.
A man of many talents and interests, Terry worked in the Tech industry in Toronto for much of his life and really was an entrepreneur at heart. As a child, Terry loved and breathed hockey. He loved sports, loved his boat, he worked hard, and he played hard. Terry was also a match maker at heart – having introduced his best friend at the time, to his sister, knowing they would be perfect together. Through it all, there was so much more to Terry. Terry was a kind man, with an electric personality. He attracted people with his smile, quick wit and contagious laugh.
Terry would do anything for his friends – he was very generous with his time, his help and whatever he could do. He genuinely wanted to help everyone, and he loved seeing people succeed when he could help. There are many examples, and we all know how Terry touched us all! He also enjoyed the outdoors (for golfing, when he was healthy!), he loved the winters (travelling!) and he loved the summers (going to the cottage and sitting by his pool with Genny and Ryley). He was an irreplaceable friend to all who knew him.
His love of life and family will continue in the hearts of his family and everyone he has touched. Your thoughts and prayers for our Terry and family are greatly appreciated.
The family will be celebrating Terry’s life on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with Words of Remembrance at noon at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville. All are welcome.
Contributions to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Foundation would be appreciated – where they gave us 9 more years with Terry.
A tree will be planted in memory of Terry in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
