Obituary for Scott Alexander Nelson

Scott Alexander Nelson
Oct 20, 1993- Aug 27. 2019
On Tuesday, August 27, our world stopped turning. Surrounded by love, our wee man, brother and son, Scott, was released from his pain. How can one possibly convey how beautiful Scott’s life was in a single paragraph? How it made you feel to see his ‘good morning’ smile, the absolute joy of a ride in the van or the pure comfort of being in mommy’s arms? It’s impossible to begin to express his unmatched innocence or the joy of being on the receiving end of one of his patented one armed bear hugs. I will try…
Scott was not only a beloved brother and son, His life went far beyond. He was our teacher. He taught us simplicity, patience, compassion and above all, how to be better people. Through him, we learned how to love unconditionally and unapologetically. Being a part of Scott’s world, in essence, was to be a part of a kinder more accepting and innocent world. Every night, Scott was carried to bed in his father’s loving arms. Tucking him in Mommy always whispered to him “Mommy loves you”. He was a gift, he was our love.
Travis and Christopher shared a unique and loving bond with their brother, ‘Baby Scott’. Travis would end each day by sharing time with Scott. Travis would hold his brother’s hand in his whilst showering him with kisses. And Christopher took personal offense to the suggestion of a car ride without Scott. Despite the difference in their musical tastes, they both enjoyed rocking out together. Our little Manny somehow managed to fit a lifetime of love and lessons into his brief 25 years. He has forever changed the lives of all who loved and cared for him.
We owe so much to our family of caregivers and friends for everything they have done. There is no way we could even try to encompass how much you all mean to us. You have our love and eternal gratitude. You all went above and beyond the role of staff members and in Scott’s eyes you were his family. A special thank you to Doctor Candusso, the ICU nurses and RT’s at Headwaters. Your compassion and professionalism helped us through an unimaginably painful time. You will always have a place in our hearts.
Rest peacefully little Manny in your Nana and Grandad’s arms. Sweet Dreams little Love Dove.
