Obituary for Elza Chapman

Chapman, Sara Elza Margaret (nee Bailey)
Elza Margaret Chapman (née Bailey), age 91, passed away on March 7, 2021 in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Elza was a longtime resident of Orangeville, and for the last year and a half graced the home of her daughter and daughter’s partner, and had loving adoration of their two miniature schnauzers, Romy and Michelle.
Elza was born on July 18, 1929 in Heart’s Content, Newfoundland, the daughter of George and Alice (née Anderson) Bailey. She married her husband, Stanley “Bud” Chapman in 1955 and enjoyed a 62-year marriage before Bud’s passing in November 2017. Elza was previously employed at J.C. Adams in Orangeville and Litton Industries in Etobicoke where she was a purchasing clerk. She was a devoted wife and mother and was a long-standing member of the Choir at St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Orangeville.
Elza is survived by her daughter Carol-Ann Chapman and her partner Rachel Clark, her son David Chapman, her grandchildren Jessica Rodgers and her partner Nick Hansen, Jakob Rodgers, Micheal Smith, and Madison Chapman. Her great-grandchildren Charlotte, Madison, and Oliver.
She was pre-deceased by her siblings Alice, Tom, Jack, and Ros.
Private Family Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark's Anglican Church on Thursday, March 11, 2021.
Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Donations in place of flowers can be made to St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Orangeville.
A tree will be planted in memory of Sara in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. The next annual dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
