Bertucci, Salvatore Michael (Sam)
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Sam (Salvatore) Bertucci, who passed away at his home on April 10, 2021. A man of few words, he would probably be most annoyed with our attempt to convey the type of person he was. Regardless, we would like to leave you with the following impression so that you can be greatly confused about whether you truly knew him. Sam was born in Simbario, Italy and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1957. He worked in the Ontario produce industry throughout his life, accruing an innate knowledge which he never hesitated to share with everyone who worked alongside him. He was a very intelligent and kind gentleman, with a quiet sense of humour and a stubborn resilience. As few people knew, Sam was a home hemodialysis patient for the past nine years. Despite his health concerns, he worked tirelessly and was never one to utter complaint.
He enjoyed being at home with his family, surrounded by nature. He was a fantastic napper who could fall asleep with the TV on full volume and every light in the house illuminated. He had a distinct smile, a subtle laugh, an infinite supply of movie and television quotes, and a love of sweets which was often fuelled by his daughters.
Sam carried himself with integrity and sincerity, never deviating from his values. He truly lived his life on his own terms. He touched many lives, and his family was fortunate to have been surrounded by such a wonderful and caring man.
Beloved husband of Lynda (nee Daly), father of Sarah and Andrea, brother of Caterina, Rose (deceased), Dominic (deceased), Vince (deceased), Rocco, Rita (deceased), Pat (deceased), Michelle, and Bob.
As per Sam’s wishes, there is to be no service as cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, he requested donations be made to the Trillium Health Partners, Renal Care Program. A tree will be planted in memory of Sam in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. The next annual dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
