Obituary for Philip Ticknovich

Ticknovich, Philip

Phil Ticknovich is best described as a serial entrepreneur. He learned tool and die as a trade, and set up his shop doing work for the likes of Christie's and Cadbury - where he recently completed work. His interests were varied, as he explored multiple passions.

Motorcycles and fishing were part of his journey. He was very proud to have redesigned the frame of Harley Davidson motorcycles to solve a vibration issue. He recounted with pride how he solved an issue multiple engineers could not solve. We can only guess he must have thought 'what else can I do'...and partnered to start a Canadian motorcycle brand - Nasty Boys motorcycles.

Before the motorcycle journey, fishing lures were in production, which were sold through Canadian Tire under the brands Lure King, and Nasty Boys. He would be available for hire too, and ran fishing charters in Lake Ontario - and across the globe. He recently recounted being hired to take Hazel McCallion (among others) on a trip to South America, where he captained a boat and took the group fishing. She enjoyed Bailey's while fishing. Phil is still well known for his lures, and recently people as far away as Kenora and BC have been asking for them.

Always a collector, his home was filled with mementos and gifts from his wide network. And let’s not talk about the bunker. With assistance from some friends, he was working to update and renovate his home, expanding the space. Given his own smart and generous nature, he attracted an eclectic group of smart and generous people. Ever learning, this creator did not stop, making home concoctions for curing cancer to pain creams. He never stopped thinking and exploring.

We would like to take a moment to say thank-you to those that cared for him, and assisted him with his health, and also his multiple endeavors.

He was known to many as 'Uncle Phil' A life well lived. Rest in Peace Uncle Phil.
