Obituary for Penny Sherrin Bogner (Lewis)

Penny Lewis Bogner
Penny always found the good in people and her positive outlook on life and genuine happiness towards others made her a truly special woman. Penny would say things like, “a smile is just a frown turned upside down.” She was a joy to be in the company with and will be truly missed by all those who knew her.
On October 27, 2022, at the age of 79, Penny passed away peacefully at home with her loved ones. She leaves behind her dear husband of 54 years, Gus Bogner. Her beloved son, Troy Bogner (Sue) and predeceased daughter, Heidi Ferguson nee Bogner. Cherished grandchildren, Courtney Porter (Willis), Connor Ferguson, Aidan Bogner and Taylor Bogner. She also leaves behind 2 great-grandchildren, Nolan Porter, and Daphne Porter. Penny will also be greatly missed by many other family members and dear friends that she met throughout her beautiful life.
Penny had a very fulfilling life, as an artist with a natural love for watercolour paintings she hosted many art shows throughout her career. She founded a company called, Tree House Canada with a focus on teaching art skills to youth in her beloved town of Palgrave, ON. Some of her first jobs, consisted of being a cheerleader with the Toronto Argonauts, a Magicians Assistant by the name of Princess Gita that caught bullets in her teeth and working at the historic Toronto telegraph. However, Penny’s real love was always for her family. She is remembered saying, “I was born to be a Nana” and her family felt so incredibly lucky to have had her in their lives.
Penny and Gus travelled to many places in the world throughout their lives together. They raised their family in the quaint town of Palgrave and were frequent travelers to Florida where they would enjoy their winters together. Over the last decade they have called Mono / Orangeville home where they have made beautiful memories with old and new friends alike. Together with Gus, they raised over $100,000 for a local charity in their beloved daughter’s name. Penny was known to have a beaming smile, always waving at everyone from her front porch ready to invite you in for a cup of tea should you be so lucky.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. We look forward to welcoming you to Penny’s Celebration of Life, Sunday, November 6, 2022. She will always hold a special place in all our hearts.
