Roome, Patricia Jean (nee Lawrance)
Peacefully, surrounded by family, at Headwaters Health Care Centre on Thursday, June 20 2019, in her 87th year. Predeceased by her previous husband Ken Otley, father of her two children William (Carol) and Christine. Beloved wife of nearly 34 years to William Roome. Cherished “Mimi” to her grandchildren Bryan (Angela), Nicole (Paul), Caitlin (Rui) and Robert (Melanie). Loving great-grandmother to Connor, Anabella, Shiloh and Maximus. Patricia will be remembered by many other relatives and friends.
Pat was born and raised in London, Ontario, the only child to her parents Rhoda and Alex. Some of her fondest memories of her time in London included getting her first job as a switchboard operator for the Bell Telephone Company and getting her degree in music from Western University, with which she taught piano. Patricia would eventually join the Army Reserves and become a drill-sergeant - a skill that would later prove useful for keeping her children and grandchildren from misbehaving too much. Years later Pat joined the Avon cosmetics company, where she had a very successful career as a sales representative, sitting on the President’s Council for many years.
The path of her life was far from simple, but every turn on the way lead her to becoming the wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that she was – our Mimi.
As per Patricia’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a private gathering for family at a later date, following an interment in her family plot at Woodland Cemetery in London.
A tree will be planted in memory of Patricia in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. The annual dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
