Obituary for Anne Worndl

Anne Worndl

Anne Worndl passed away peacefully with family by her side in her 103rd year on October 26, 2023.
Predeceased by her devoted husband and best friend of 59 years, Johnny, she is survived by her sister Helen (John); her four children Martin (Barb), Tom (Michele), Andrée  (Arunas) and Doug (Johanna); her 12 grandchildren Matthew (Nadine), Maryte (Jordan), David (Bridget), Erin (Gordon), Katie (Robin), Elizabeth (Rob), Carolyn (Marty), Daniel, Paul (Barbora), Mary, Joseph and Madeleine; and her 13 great-grandchildren, Ursula, Gilbert, Joshua, Andy, Gabriel, Selah, Leo, Forest, Margot, Evie, Quinn, Emma, and Vivian.
Born in Edmonton Alberta on October 8, 1921, Anne was the sixth of the eight children of Fred and Bernadette Vaugeois, Alberta homesteaders from Trois-Rivières, Québec. She is predeceased by her siblings Alice (George), Ange (Harry), Florence, Germaine (Joe), Leona (Maurice), and Henry (Clare).
Anne will be dearly missed by her heartbroken family and indeed by anyone who knew her. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was an artist, poet, and keen student of current events, politics, and baseball!
She quietly imparted great wisdom, insight, and advice gleaned from a very long life. Above all else, Anne was a profoundly kind, sensitive and spiritual person who had a gift for saying just the right thing, making anyone who spent any time with her feel special and loved. She listened and understood and advised and encouraged – and always with kindness.
We are all so grateful to have had Anne in our lives.
Friends may call at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home, 21 First Street, Orangeville, Ontario on Sunday October 29 between 2 pm and 5 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Parish, 16066 Gore Rd. Caledon Ontario on Wednesday November 1, 2023 at 10:30 am.
The family would like to especially thank the wonderful staff at Dufferin Oaks Shelburne, who provided such great care to Anne in her final few years.
In lieu of flowers, Anne’s family asks that you consider making a donation to Covenant House, your local food bank, or a charity of your choice.

A tree will be planted in memory of Anne in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
