Obituary for Marjorie May Payne (Decker)

Payne, Marjorie May (nee Decker)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful and much loved mom, Marjorie May Payne nee Decker, on Tuesday March 9th, 2021, at the age of 78 years.
Cherished mother of Daniel (Lola), Dennis (Elaine), Pattilou (Chad) and Chuck. She will be forever loved and missed by her grandchildren Margaret (Garth), Mark (Ivy), Joanne(Brian) and Shauna(John). Precious Great grand mom to Emma, Gavin, Madden, Hannah, Marcus, Jackson, and Grace. Marjorie will be fondly remembered by her sister and best friend Jeanette(Bim), treasured brothers and her favorite story tellers Tom(Marie), Hughie(Leona), Harry(Christine), and Curtis(Sandra). She will be greatly missed by her sister-In-Laws, neighbors and her dearest friends Joyce (Wilson) and Margaret. Brother-in-Law Sterling (Martha). A memorable mention of her cousins Beatrice Smith, Max Roberts, Sadie Ellsworth and Sandra Cullihall whom she thought of so fondly.
Marjorie is predeceased by her husband and the Love of her Life, Raymond, parents, Elsie and Philip, sister Peggy, and her dearest friend May. In-laws Freeman and Julia, brother in-laws Leslie, Hedley, Coyley, sister-in-law Rachel, Rhoda, treasured niece Patsy and her fur babies Tippy and Burger. She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Marjorie leaves behind a rich legacy by virtue of the many lives she touched through her innumerable acts of kindness and her generosity. She was inexhaustibly hardworking, thoughtful and hospitable. Her incredible meals were legendary. Not only because they were delicious but because of the huge numbers she could feed at any given time, as well as, the abundance and variety she served. Marjorie enjoyed many things… her friends, whom she amused with her interesting and fascinating stories, the first snowfall of the season, all things Christmas, dogs, a plethora of fruit, chocolate covered anything, smarties, shopping, shopping, and more shopping and any event where she could attire elaborately. She enjoyed the hustle and bustle and meet and greet of the family business where their moto was, the customer is always right. It was extremely important to keep their valued customers happy and they enjoyed each and everyone who passed through the store door. Marjorie’s family were her treasures and her greatest achievements were those who called her Mom, Grand mom, Great-grand mom, sister, Aunt, friend and wife. Marjorie was known for her inspirational words of wisdom and what we call “Marjorieisms”… “Behind every cloud is a silver lining,” “What doesn’t kill ya, makes ya stronger,” “Whatever shall be shall be” and “Life is one big dream and a whole lotta changes.” She has no buildings named after her; no monuments erected in her honor, but she did leave behind a legacy of a loved and treasured family, her innumerable friends and a deep belief and abiding faith in God. Mom was a truly phenomenal woman accurately summarized in scripture; Proverb 31:29: Many woman do noble things but you surpass them all. Marjorie touched the lives of many and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.
