Obituary for Peggy Hiscock

Margaret (Peggy) Hiscock , Feb.5 1932 -Jan.9,2022
The family of Peggy Hiscock are very sad to announce the passing of Peggy on January 9, 2022 in Barrie, just shy of her 90th birthday. Peggy was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland where she married her childhood sweetheart, Billy Millar and raised their two daughters, Margaret (Harrison) and Laura (Maund). Her courage
and determination in her Belfast community became a local legend when she fearlessly stood up against armed terrorist gang members during “ The Troubles “. Peggy was always fierce in defence of her principles and fiercely loyal to those she loved. After the death of Billy in 1995, Peggy joined her daughters and grandchildren in Canada where she became an enthusiastic and proud Canadian. For over 20 years, she was active in her
Orangeville community, attending St. Marks Anglican Church and all Seniors Centre events. At a Valentines Day dance at the Lord Dufferin Centre, she met the second love of her life, Ron Hiscock. Peggy and Ron married
in the Lord Dufferin in 2001 and shared some wonderful years together before his death. Peggy will be dearly missed by her daughters Margaret (George) and Laura (Doug) as well as her grandchildren Mark (Sue) and
Jamie. Also by her great grandson Jack as well as her honorary grandchildren, Peter (Amanda) and Liam (Walker).
A celebration of Peggy’s remarkable life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Headwaters Health Care Foundation would be appreciated by her family .
Peggy left her loved ones with wonderful memories and she lived a good and valuable life. She is deeply loved and forever in our hearts.
A tree will be planted in memory of Peggy in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville.
