Knight, Joseph Roy
Formerly of Sydney Mines, Cape Breton N.S.
Passed away peacefully at Dufferin Oaks Long Term Care, Shelburne on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at the age of 78. He was the elder son of the late Joseph and Annabelle (Bugden) Knight. Surviving are brother Keith (Janet), wife Mary (MacIntosh), daughter Arleen Hetherington her husband and children. Special recognition to Rhonda Bugden his designated caregiver the past four years. Roy will be missed by his group of friends from Simon Court, Tony, and his close friend Doreen. Roy was a kind and generous man who never wanted anything in return. He was often seen out on his scooter touring around town. He loved fixing things especially mechanical stuff which explains his large collection of tools which he would keep buying and didn't have room for them so he would give them away. He also loved boats and used to race them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place.
A Farewell will be held for Roy at the Shelburne Legion on Saturday, March 26, 2022 starting at 3:30 pm .
Burial will be held at a later date in Cape Breton.
A tree will be planted in memory of Roy in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
