Obituary for John Bright

Johnston (John) Bright
August 12, 1932 - December 12, 2022
John passed in peace at the age of 90 at Headwaters Health Care Centre
surrounded by his family.
Husband and cherished friend of Joan Bright. Loving father of Maureen & Laura and their partners Chris & James. Proud grandfather of Rose and her partner Dejan. Brother-in-law to Shirley & Mike Nott, Marie Bujold,
Elaine Taylor and her partner Ben Fedunchak.
Brother of Billy, Lily, Florrie, Bob, Tommy, Henry, Sydney, Evelyn,
John, Arthur, Ivan & Gladys. Will be missed by many, many nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
John was born in Co. Sligo Ireland to James Bright and Lizzie (Craig) Bright, August 12th, 1932.
John will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a fun-loving,
dad-joke telling, rock-throwing outdoorsman. He found joy in his garden in Hockley Valley alongside the Nottawasaga River. He also enjoyed travelling through Canada and visits to the Old Country. He was renowned for his
incredible memory for names and faces. There was nowhere in the world he could go without running into an old friend or past IBM co-worker.
He valued his friendships and was always ready to help out when needed.
There will be no funeral or interment service. Instead (on John’s instruction), there will be a Celebration of Life planned at a future date. Donations in John’s honor could be made to the Headwaters Health Centre Friendship Garden fund (https://www.friendshipgardens.ca/donate).
A tree will be planted in memory of Johnston in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 21st Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
