Within the loving embrace of his family, John Charles Shillum, born September 30, 1947 in Stratford Ontario, passed in peace to be with His Heavenly Father, on Friday, December 11, 2020.
Beloved husband of Lynda Shillum (nee Coulter), loving father to Kim Stevenson (Darryn) and David Shillum (Krista). Cherished grandfather to Kaelyn, Craig, Brandon, Julia, and Aiden. Loving family member and loyal friend to many.
John took great meaning from his years as Detective Constable with the Caledon East O.P.P Crime Unit. He will be remembered for his enormous heart and compassion in times of difficulty, and for his service to others throughout his career.
John faced the challenges of his illness with humility, humour and gratitude. A guitar strumming campfire singer, with a love for boating and time spent with family and friends, he had a presence that was larger than life.
Sincere thanks for the incredible care provided by Princess Margaret Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital, and to Dr. Mori, Dr. Sandhu, and the compassionate nurses at Headwaters Health Care Centre. There are countless others who deserve our gratitude.
John’s pride in his children, and his grandchildren, was unending. His love for his wife Lynda was an inspiration to all who knew him.
We have been blessed by your love, and will love you forever. Be at peace now, and know all is well.
