It is with a bittersweet mix of sorrow and relief that we share with you the passing of our beloved dad. John ‘Eldon’ McCarthy, in his 91st year, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 surrounded by family.
Eldon was born on July 3, 1930 to John & Helen McCarthy in Sault Ste. Marie. Raised in the rugged north of Ontario he grew up to be the kind, hardworking, blueberry loving guy that we all knew. He was a very gentle soul with a cheeky sense of humour, an avid armchair athlete in his later years, and dished out some of the best hugs ever. He was our man, our dad, our grampie and he is in our heart and soul.
He will be fondly and forever remembered in the hearts of his former wife, Joan and his children, Loryne (Duane), Beth (Dan), Tracey and Shaun (Kim). To cherish his memories and bear hugs are his grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Kaitlan and Crista, Candace, Josh and Brandon.
His great granddaughters, Ruby, Stella and Vivian have been blessed to know him too.
Eldon is also survived by his brothers Gerry, Clare and many nieces and nephews.
You gave us life, you gave us love, you made life worth living and now you’ve taken your well earned rest. We love you so much and although we will miss you incredibly it’s time to say goodbye. Thank you Dad for everything.
