Obituary for Halina Narcyza Urbanowicz (Torbicki)

Halina Narcyza (Torbicki) Urbanowicz
May 19, 1925 – March 10, 2020
Peacefully at Woodhall Park Long Term Care Home in Brampton on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 with her family by her side at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Bohdan Aleksander Urbanowicz; dear mother of Richard (Dee) Urbanowicz of Pelham and Anna Urbanowicz of Orangeville. Cherished Babcia of Christopher, Michael, Peter and Nicholas. Halina will be greatly missed by relatives and many friends.
Born in Torun Poland, Halina, daughter of the late Helena and Antoni Torbicki. She was predeceased by her beloved sister Waclawa.
Shortly after WWII, Halina came to Montreal Canada and worked as a seamstress and then moved to Hamilton to live with her late Aunt. Halina and Bohdan met at the Royal Connaught Hotel in Hamilton on New Year's Eve and were married 6 months later. Bohdan and Halina were happily married for 64 years. They resided in Welland and Halina continued to work as a seamstress from home. Upon Bohdan’s retirement both Halina and Bohdan moved to Kaszuby, Ontario and resided there for 30 years. Special memories are held by many of times spent up in Kaszuby and Blackfish Bay. Halina enjoyed boating, fishing and gardening. Halina volunteered with the Związek Harcerstwa Polskiego (ZHP), Polish Scouting in Kaszuby in addition to many hours with the St. Francis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Wilno, this coming summer, date to be determined.
Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
A tree will be planted in memory of Halina in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. The annual dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
