Morrison, Dennis Lyle
Passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 3rd, 2023 at the age of 78. Denny passed with his loving wife Bonnie (nee Davies) of 54 years holding his hand. Hilarious #1 Dad of Kari (Chad Highgate) and Dean (Jan Pettigrew). Dear brother of Thais (Barry Frook) and proud uncle of Dee, Dynette and David. Denny will be sadly missed by his best buddy and beloved canine companion Lexi. Dennis' positive and humourous approach to life will also be greatly missed by many other relatives and friends.
Dennis (Denny) was born in Owen Sound to parents Lila and Gomer Morrison. During his youth he had many summer adventures at Sauble Beach which included go karting and dancing (at both the dance halls and roller rink) with his cousins and friends. He liked road trips to check out old car shows. Family and friends always received a personal send off during his career at Air Canada. He used his sense of humour to ensure strangers and family alike always felt at ease. For almost 40 years, the family home in Caledon was Denny's sanctuary where he welcomed everyone. Local community business acquaintances became Dennis' social circuit. He remained a kid at heart with a twinkle in his eyes and friendly smile for everyone whose path he crossed. His favourite spot in recent years was sitting on the front porch watching the neighbourhood kids playing and waving to the dog walkers (he remembered each dog's name more than the people ;) Denny always put his family first, above anything else.
As per Dennis' wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the OSPCA in Dennis' honour.
A tree will be planted in memory of Dennis in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 21st Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
