It is with great sorrow, the family of Daniel (Dan) John Pennie, age 66, of Mono, Ontario announces his passing on June 14th, 2023. Dan passed unexpectedly, with his loving wife and family by his side, after a short battle with a medical condition, at Brampton Civic Hospital.
Born June 3, 1957, in Toronto, Ontario, Dan was one of 7 children born to Ren and Yvonne Pennie (nee Saruk). Dan grew up in the small community of Sandhill. In 1995 he met his partner Sherry Black and the two have spent the last 28 years living in their forever home. Dan loved his home and was often teased of his lawn care obsession.
He had a long career at Husky Injection Molding System, retiring in 2022.
Dan enjoyed his snowmobiling adventures with his brother Randy. He always looked forward to golfing with his buddies, Gary, Lance and John, who were always there for him and was very proud of his hole-in-one.
Dan was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife Sherry Black. His children Daniel (Hilary), Christopher, Matthew (Krista), David (Sam), and Rachel (Lacey). Step children Tami, Ed, and Eric. Grandchildren Scarlett, Mackenzie, Hadley, Ella, Levi, and Hunter. Step grandchildren Ashley, Jessica, Daniel and Emily. Great grandchildren Audrey and Parker.
He was a much-loved brother and is survived by Brenda (Gil) Corless, Michael (Joanne) Pennie, Randy (Noella) Pennie, Lisa (Terry Evans) Pennie, and Kim (Kenneth) Morris.
Rest in peace dear husband, father, grandfather and brother, you will be sadly missed and mourned.
Please join us for a celebration of life on September 24th, 2023 at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First St., from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
A tree will be planted in memory of Daniel in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 21st Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
