Obituary for Lorraine Martin
Lorraine Martin (nee Bray) was a caring wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend. She left the world unexpectedly after a brief illness on Tuesday, Aug 24, 2021 in Orangeville at Headwaters Hospital at the age of 81.
Lorraine was born on June 9, 1940 in Toronto, Ontario and was the loving wife and soulmate of Colin for almost 58 years. Lorraine was a devoted mom to Carolyn and her husband Frank, Diane and her husband Mark. Loving, supporting, and cheering on her 3 grandchildren Emily, Mason and Holly was her greatest joy. Lorraine is predeceased by her brother Jack and wife Margaret and will be greatly missed by her brother Mike and wife Marie, brother-in-law John and late wife Rosemary, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends, in particular 2 special ladies, Loretta and Betty, friends for 70 years.
Lorraine was known for her kind and generous spirit to all who knew her; her home was always open to family and friends. Frank Sinatra, marching bands, bagpipes, and entertaining were some of Lorraine’s loves. Her retirement years included travelling, card playing and enjoying the tranquility of Wasaga Beach.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the outstanding and loving care Lorraine received from the Palliative Care unit at Headwaters Hospital, along with the compassion shown to the family.
Donations in Lorraine’s memory to Headwaters Health Care Foundation (E-Wing Palliative Care) or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Lorraine’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 12 noon - 2 p.m.
