Soper, Betty Ilene Colva (nee Mifflin)
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Betty Soper of Orangeville on March 11, 2021 in her 94th year at Extendicare, Lakefield, Ontario with her daughter by her side. Beloved wife of William James Soper (2002). Dear mother of Linda Gilbert and her husband Tom Hobbins, Jim Soper (deceased 2010) and Larry Soper and his wife Cheryl Soper. Grandmother to Chad Soper (Chantal) and Amber Gallaugher (Sean). Great-grandmother to Charlotte and Phoenix, Grady and Sophie whom she adored. Survived by her brother Keith Mifflin; predeceased by her parents Elmer and Clova Mifflin; brothers Glenn, Morley and Bob. She was always there for her family and provided loving care for her husband in later years. She will be remembered for her subtle wisdom and sense of humor. Betty was always happy to host a family get together, or share a meal with friends; her home will always be remembered as a place of light and laughter where all were welcome. Her love of knitting/ crocheting, doing jigsaw puzzles and word search games were all things she loved to do. Many of the items she made were given as gifts. She loved her card games at the Senior's Centre and Oddfellow’s Hall in Orangeville, and often went to the Shelburne Legion on Monday afternoon. Definitely a force to be reckoned with when playing cards. In the past she was also an active member in the Elder Mills institute where she made many friends and contributed to the community. Betty will also be greatly missed by other relatives and many friends
Due to current restrictions a Private Family Service will be held at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre on Thursday, March 18, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Dufferin County or the Orangeville Seniors Centre.
