Obituary for Bessie Gertrude Demczur (O'Neil)

DEMCZUR, Bessie Gertrude
It is with great sadness that the family of Bessie Demczur advises of her peaceful passing on Sunday, August 2, 2020. Born in North Salem, Nova Scotia, she moved as a child to South Maitland, Nova Scotia where she grew up with her sister and two brothers. She graduated high school and moved to Yarmouth for nurse’s training, graduating top in her class. Bessie continued her studies in Montreal, eventually moving to Ontario and finally settling in Toronto, where she raised a family with her beloved husband, Joseph. Bessie began her career as a surgical nurse and eventually became supervisor of nursing at Doctor’s Hospital in Toronto. Bessie loved being in nursing because she could help people get better. Bessie was predeceased by Joseph (1996); her daughter, Anne (2014); her siblings, Mae Lightfoot (2014) and John O’Neil (1987). She is survived by her loving son Michael (Jackie); her two granddaughters, Katherine (Kate) and Elizabeth; her brother George O’Neil (Charlene, 2007) and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Literacy Council York-Simcoe, https://www.skillsupgrading.ca/.
