Obituary

Obituary for Alida Johanna Eichhorn (van Eerden)

Eichhorn, Alida Johanna (nee van Eerden)
Passed peacefully at Holland Christian Homes, Brampton, on Tuesday October 15, 2019 at the age of 89. Alida was the beloved wife of the late Johannes (Jan) Eichhorn. She was a loving and devoted mother to Chris (Vicki), Tineke Steenman (Kees), Wilma (Richard), Ans Dobson (Bill) and Frans (Amber).
Alida was a proud and caring oma to Alicia (Brandon), Moniek (Jonathan), Nicki (Sean), Jon, Michael, Bianca, Adam, Keetje (Justin), Laura, Nathan, Nicholas and Skyler and great-oma to Katelyn, Hudson, Austin, Nolan, and Beatrix. She was the 6th of 14 children born to Gerardus and Agatha van Eerden and is survived by her loving sisters; Rie, Jo, Bernadine (Theodore) and Paula. She was also a close sister-in-law to Rie, Will, Wim, Greet, and Nico. Alida was born in Bloemendaal, The Netherlands in 1930. She was a hardworking woman, growing up and helping in her parent's business, and later on starting her own with her husband. She courageously immigrated to Canada with her family in 1980 where they built a new life together. Alida was a loving mother and oma and was devoted to her family, always putting them before herself. She had a great sense of humour and was quick to make a joke and share a laugh. Alida touched many lives and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior.
