The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Steve Nelson can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Jeff Stikeman

Norma and family. Our deepest sympathy to you all. Steven was, as you know, a well-loved man, generous and giving, humorous and easy to laugh. Aside from his famous "suitcase satay" story, let me leave you with another from the same trip (when we rented a lake-house to fish all week before an Eggfest in Virginia): We'd divided up the expenses and chores, and we were going to settle up at the end. Steven rented the boat and gassed it up, but refused to tell us how much it cost, and wouldn't let us pay for it. We tried to throw a little money at him for it, but I don't think he took it. And when I went around to collected the rented linens from everyone's room, I found Steven's towels and bedsheets still folded and in the bag, laying on the plastic covered mattress of the cabin we rented. I said "You didn't sleep without sheets and a blanket all week, did you?" He shrugged, and then laughed. He had. Wasn't exactly a priority for him, getting those sheets on and being comfortable. He'd slept atop the mattress fully clothed. Saved time, with us staying up late talking and getting up early to go fishing... We will miss him greatly. I hope in time the pain from this will diminish and be replaced by all the funny and more pleasant memories. There WILL be a time when we think of him and smile, instead of feel so sad. For now though, it's pretty hard to do that. We're very happy you two were able to visit us as well, in our home. Great conversation, and a great memory.
