Obituary for Marian Temple

Marian Temple
Temple, Marian (née Hodgson).
Peacefully after a short illness on November 28, 2017 at the age of 92; beloved wife of Lloyd (deceased); much loved mother of Patty (Koval--Alan), Jim (Andrea) and Barbara (Allan); devoted grandmother of Trevor; sadly missed by her sisters Mabel, Elva, and Janet and their families in the UK and Australia and her nieces in Canada.
Marian was born in Sheffield, England and spent her formative years there. After the outbreak of World War II, she enlisted in the WRENS (Women's Royal English Navy) and met Lloyd at a servicemen's dance in London. They married and she emigrated to Canada as a war bride. She was a devoted mother and housewife but gave her time liberally to support many community causes, including, among other others, Headwaters Health Care Centre (as a Life member of the Auxiliary and it's President), St. Mark's Anglican Church and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 233 (as its Treasurer). She loved classical music, the ballet and books, and she was a voracious reader of history.
Funeral Services will be held at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First Street, Orangeville, Ontario (519) 941-1392, www.dodsandmcnair.com on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. The family will receive visitors from noon until the service time.
As expressions of sympathy donations to Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville, Ontario would be appreciated. The family would like to express special thanks to the Staff at Four Elms Retirement Residence in Thornhill, Ontario for the wonderful care that Marian enjoyed over the past three years.
A tree will be planted in memory of Marian in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. A dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
