Condolence: My deepest sympathies to the Young family. I worked with Daniel when I was at the Ministry of Labour and I was always in awe of his extremely calm demeanour and his very logical way of dealing with what appeared to be very complex issues. As I reflected on Daniel today, I still remember in 2009 when Daniel sat patiently white boarding for me the overarching process on IT governance to help me understand how it related to a project I was handling and how his patience still stayed intact answering all my many questions, which is ironic that years later I am now have a significant corporate role on IT governance. Daniel will be sadly missed and please know he had a profound impact on those he crossed paths with.

Condolence: My deepest sympathy to the Young family, I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine what your hearts are going thru at this time. My thoughts and prayers are with you. It has been a great honour to work under Daniel’s leadership and support him in his Director role. Daniel was a “people person”, he preferred to pick up the phone and call, or walk over to someone’s desk rather than send an email. He was a great leader who expected great results, delivered on his commitments and always supported and cheered you on. He was never afraid of getting his hands dirty or “taking one for the team”. I will miss our weekly catch-ups and friendly chats where he would tell me what a saint Bev was and how thankful he is for her, and how we should never take anyone or anything for granted. Daniel fought a brave fight and stayed strong till the end. I will hold on to his memories. He will forever be missed.

Condolence: Dear Daniel:
I started to work at 400U just a few month before you joined the team. I remember the first meeting when you told us about your work at Toronto Star and me teasing you with a question " Why have you decide to join the OPSt then?"...
Many years passed since then and you've always been and will ever be a source of inspiration to me...example of very intelligent, classy, understated, quite man.
Years later I asked you to be my mentor and what supposed to be a six-month engagement turned into years of monthly sessions when i continued to learn from you about values and emotional intelligence and ability to focus on one's goals.
You always supported me and genuinely cared...
I hope that in last two years you could sense my support and care as well.
It is very hard for me to know that you are gone...and I cannot even imagine how devastating it is for your family.
I will always remember you, Daniel.
You impacted so many people.
Rest in peace.

Condolence: It was such a pleasure to work with Daniel. I enjoyed our catchup talk at an OPS Diversity function in Toronto where his involvement was just one of many examples of his caring, engaged nature. He will be missed!

Condolence: It was a privilege working for Daniel and getting to know him as much as an employee/boss relationship allows. His trust was hard-earned so it was a special thing for him to reach out to you directly and ask for something. I found such subtle things to be his strength as manager. I will miss our talks.

My sincerest heartfelt condolences to his family. May you cherish the memories.
