Friedrich (Fritz) Wilhelm Ziebenhaus (Metzgermeister) born in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, September 26, 1929 passed peacefully the morning of April 19, 2017, by his side was Gisela, his wife of 62 years.
Fritz, beloved father of Gordon, daughter-in-law Sylvia, and a very proud Opa to three adoring grandsons; Alexander, Christopher and Victor.
Fritz, with Gisela, arrived from Germany in 1956, with his Meisterbrief and a dream. He worked diligently and successfully opened his first delicatessen in 1961. Fritz then opened Ziebenhaus Meats and Delicatessen in the Scarborough location in 1969. He became synonymous with his renowned sausages and cold cuts; all made under his watchful eye and unwavering standards to quality. His expertise in the selection, trimming and display of the choice meats resulted in a loyal client base throughout southern Ontario until retirement in 1992.
Once retired Fritz was happiest when spending time outdoors with his grandsons. Every moment was cherished whether playing and romping around the grounds of the family home or enjoying a fabulous home cooked meal. Meals always seemed to be one of the highlights! Never would he consider wasting time exercising. Time away from home was spent travelling, but his happiness was obvious when striking blue eyes sparkled their brightest and that was when he was with family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Briar Hill Community Center, 4783 C.W. Leach Road, New Tecumseth, ON

In lieu of flowers, donations to Matthews House Hospice, Alliston or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
A tree will be planted in memory of Fritz in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. A dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 2:30 p.m.
