The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of John Harper can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Jack - A True Friend to All

Our boys were privileged to weekly spend time with Mr. Harper throughout their young lives whether it was through accordion and/or piano lessons or at AWANA, the local Bible club.

One AWANA awards night years ago, Mr. Harper took the small group of three 5 or 6 year old boys (that he listened to recite Scripture and prayed with weekly through the school year), up on stage and with tears in his eyes and his loving arms around them, said, 'These are my friends.' Tears welled up in my eyes as I was touched by the heart of this man and the example of God’s love for what many view as the ‘least of these.’

Each time we would see Mr. Harper after he was no longer physically able to teach our boys piano (he was likely about 80J!), he would say that one of his biggest regrets was not being able to continue. His servant heart of love was so very evident. Without fail, he would gather us together at the front door along with Mrs. Harper, and ‘say a prayer’ for us before we left. Only in eternity will we know how richly blessed our lives are as a result of the faithful prayers or agreement of Jack and Fran.
